The Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) invites you to attend the ANZMOSS 2020 Virtual Conference, 15-16 October 2020.
2020. Hmm…20 years since we, keen to improve the results of our bariatric surgery, took the road less travelled and started doing laparoscopic gastric bypasses. Currently, when motivating patients to exercise, I tell them that my motto is: “If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing badly until you get good at it.” Then I say “Except surgery..!” They laugh, but the reality is that, looking back over those 20 years, we did do the whole care package pretty badly back then. We have progressed so far in the last 20 years: better operations, excellent anaesthetic care, ERAS, a much more holistic approach, and so much more science. And when I look back at the major changes in my practice, most were stimulated by ideas presented at conferences, both local and international.
Yes, we have come a long way. But can we do better? I invite you to join us at this year’s ANZMOSS meeting to challenge yourself: how can we maximise results for our patients? This year we want to bring together the local Australian and New Zealand bariatric teams to share what they have learnt in our communities and what has worked best. We will have stimulating presenters and a vibrant environment of enquiry and discovery. Bariatric surgery requires a team approach, and we intend to cater for the whole team.
Join us online this year!
